Children of Fogo Island by Colin Low
A fascinating insight into everyday life of the children of the fishing community of Fogo Island, Newfoundland in the late 60s. A wonderful record of a different era.
I especially love hearing traces of the west of Ireland in the children’s accents, even though their ancestors settled in Fogo Island 300 years ago there seems to me to still be a very strong Irish influence. You’d be forgiven for thinking this a a record of 1960’s seaside life on the Mayo coast.
